Windsor retreat enhances partnership in education
Friday, March 13, 2009
A busload of London-based Schulich faculty travelled to Windsor on March 11 for a strategic retreat with Windsor colleagues. The event was an opportunity to build on the successful partnership and discuss future directions for undergraduate medical education.
Dr. Carol Herbert, Dean, addressed the group of approximately 70 participants at the start, providing an overview of the development of the Southwestern Ontario Medical Education Network (SWOMEN) and the Windsor Program. Topics of small group discussion included: developing shared educational curricula, faculty development opportunities, improving communications between the two sites and recommendations for organizational structure.
It was also a great opportunity for those from London to see the state-of the-art facilities at the University of Windsor's new Medical Education Building - home to the Windsor Program.
A special presentation was made to Jim Silcox at the conclusion of the retreat in recognition of his contributions in mentoring and supporting Windsor medical education leaders.
Congratulations to our Windsor hosts, Dr. Tom Scott, Associate Dean Windsor Program, Dr. Raphael Cheung, Assistant Dean, SWOMEN-Windsor and the Windsor Program staff on a terrific event.
